Why it’s useful & how it works
Cameron's World, created by Cameron Askin in 2015, is a web-art piece rather than a search tool: a single long scrollable page assembled from over 700 animated GIFs, text fragments, and hyperlinks excavated from thousands of GeoCities pages. Clicking any linked element opens an archived GeoCities page in a mock browser window called 'Catscape Navigator 2.0.' It is listed here as a link because there is no search function; its value is experiential, giving a visceral sense of what amateur web design looked and felt like in the 1990s.
What’s inside
