IA Live Music (etree)

The Internet Archive's live music collection (etree) holds legal taper recordings of live concerts. It is searchable through the Archive's keyless search API, so results appear directly in our search as well as on archive.org. The place to look for recordings of a band's past shows.

Why it’s useful & how it works

The Live Music Archive (etree) is the internet's largest community of concert tapers and the first place to look for a recording of a specific band's past show. Only artists who have explicitly permitted taping and trading are represented, so the recordings are fully legal to download and share. You can search by band name, venue, or date on archive.org; Echo queries the collection and links you directly to matching shows.

What’s inside

Over 250,000 concert recordings from thousands of taper-friendly artists, taking up more than 250 terabytes of storage. The collection passed the quarter-million mark in mid-2023 and continues to grow at roughly 30 new shows per day.
