Why it’s useful & how it works

The Wayback Machine can surface older snapshots of public Facebook Pages from periods before content was edited or removed, making it useful when you need to verify what a Page said on a specific date in the past. To use it, enter a facebook.com URL into the Wayback Machine's search bar and pick a capture date from the calendar. Coverage is very uneven: Facebook has actively restricted crawlers for many years, so a large share of captures show only the login screen rather than page content. Public Pages are the most likely to have usable snapshots; individual profiles and private groups almost never do.
