MobyGames

A comprehensive catalogue of video game history, covering games across all platforms. Searching is done on the website; an API exists but requires a key. It is the standard reference when you need the catalogued record of a particular game. Currently degraded, the site may interpose a CAPTCHA.

Why it’s useful & how it works

MobyGames is the standard reference database for video game history, with catalogued entries covering games across more than 300 platforms from the earliest home computers to modern consoles. Each entry includes release dates, publishers, developers, screenshots, cover scans, critic scores, and platform-specific notes contributed by a community of editors over more than two decades. It is the place to reach for when you need definitive publication metadata, a platform-by-platform release list, or historical context for a specific title. Echo links you to MobyGames so you can search and browse there directly.

What’s inside

More than 327,000 documented games across over 300 platforms, with release records spanning from 1948 to the present day.
