Google Patents

Full-text patent search spanning patent offices worldwide, plus non-patent literature. There is no official API (the data is separately available as a BigQuery public dataset), so you search on the site itself via our link. One of the most convenient single interfaces for global patent lookups.

Why it’s useful & how it works

Google Patents is the most convenient single interface for broad global patent searches, covering over 120 million patent publications from more than 100 patent offices worldwide. It includes full text, making it possible to search the actual claims and descriptions rather than just titles, and it automatically translates non-English documents. There is no official search API, so Echo links you to the Google Patents site where you run your search directly.

What’s inside

Over 120 million patent publications from more than 100 countries, with full-text indexing from the 20 largest patent offices and machine-translated access to non-English filings.
