Figshare
A repository where researchers deposit datasets, figures, posters and other supplementary outputs. Its read API is keyless and our search queries it directly, or you can browse on the site. Useful when the data behind a paper was published separately from the paper itself.
Why it’s useful & how it works
Figshare is a research repository designed for outputs that do not fit neatly into a journal article: raw datasets, figures, code, videos, posters, and supplementary files are all first-class items here, each with its own DOI and citation. It is particularly useful when a paper references data or materials hosted separately. Echo queries the Figshare API directly, and you can also browse figshare.com by keyword, file type, or subject category.
What’s inside
More than seven million open research objects as of 2023, spanning datasets, figures, media, and other supplementary outputs from researchers worldwide. The collection continues to grow as publishers also use the platform to host article supplements.
