Fediverse Observer

A directory and uptime monitor covering thousands of Fediverse/Mastodon servers, with a GraphQL endpoint behind it. Use the website to discover which instances exist and which are currently alive. It holds no posts itself, it is the natural first stop before digging into a specific Mastodon server.

Why it’s useful & how it works

Fediverse Observer is useful as a map of the Mastodon and broader Fediverse landscape rather than a content archive. It continuously monitors thousands of servers, tracking which are online, what software they run, and basic metadata about each community. If you want to find which Mastodon instances exist around a particular topic, language, or region before drilling into their content, this is the natural starting point. It holds no posts itself; Echo links you to the site so you can explore the directory there.

What’s inside

Tracks thousands of active Fediverse nodes across Mastodon and related platforms. Coverage reflects live uptime monitoring rather than archived post content.
