Discogs

A crowdsourced database of music releases and physical pressings, paired with a marketplace. Its search API requires a token, so we surface it as a link to the site's own search. The standard reference for discographies and for identifying a specific pressing of a release. Flagged as degraded: a CAPTCHA may stand between you and the site.

Why it’s useful & how it works

Discogs is the standard reference for discographies and the most reliable way to identify a specific pressing, catalog number, or regional variant of a release. Its crowd-sourced database is built by collectors who document physical formats in fine detail, and each release entry lists label, matrix, country, and year. Because the Discogs API requires a token, Echo links you to the site's own search, where you can run a query and browse results, though a CAPTCHA may occasionally appear.

What’s inside

More than 18 million releases spanning vinyl, CD, cassette, and other formats, with entries for over 2.4 million artists and 2.1 million labels. Community members have collectively catalogued more than 830 million individual pieces of music in personal collections.
