One of the largest photo-sharing archives on the web, holding billions of photos, a deep well of historical and community photography. Search works on the website, and a mature REST API exists for keyed access. Worth searching when you are chasing original photographs of places, events or communities from the earlier web. Degraded for new integrations: fresh API keys now require a paid Flickr Pro subscription (existing keys keep working), so plan on the web interface.

You can search by keyword, tag, or date on the website, and filter by licence type to find Creative Commons material. Note that new API keys now require a paid Flickr Pro subscription, so Echo links you to the site's own search for browsing.
