DataCite REST API
The DOI registry for research outputs beyond journal articles, datasets, software, and preprints, covering tens of millions of DOIs. Records can be looked up or searched through a free API with no key required. It is the complement to Crossref when the object you are tracing is a dataset or a piece of research software rather than a paper.
Por que é útil e como funciona
DataCite fills the gap left by Crossref, which focuses on journal articles and books: DataCite is the DOI registry specifically for datasets, research software, preprints, and other non-article outputs. When you need to find the metadata for a dataset DOI or discover what datasets or software an institution has published, DataCite is the right place. You can look up any DataCite DOI directly through the API or search by keyword or creator without registering. It works as a complement to Crossref when the object you are tracing is data or code rather than a paper.
O que há dentro
More than 92 million DOIs registered for research datasets, software, preprints, and related non-article outputs, drawn from thousands of repositories and institutions worldwide.
