Fanlore

A wiki run by the Organization for Transformative Works documenting fan history, fandoms and fan terminology. As a MediaWiki site it has a standard keyless API, but we currently surface it as a link to its own search. It is the reference work for understanding the fandom context around archived fan works. Son utilité et son fonctionnement

Fanlore is the reference wiki for understanding fan culture: it documents the history of fandoms, fan terminology, notable fan works, fan controversies, and the communities that formed around them. It is maintained by the Organization for Transformative Works as a complement to AO3. When you need context for a fandom or want to trace the history of a fan concept, Fanlore is the place to look. Echo links you to its search interface and you search there; as a MediaWiki site it also has a standard keyless API for programmatic queries.

Ce qu’elle contient

As of late 2025, Fanlore contains roughly 79,000 articles with more than 1.6 million edits contributed by over 150,000 registered editors, covering fandoms across television, film, books, anime, games, and more.
